Join scientists, artists and writers to discuss the interesting, the unusual or provocative in the past, present and future of science, culture and us, over a cup of coffee or drink.

At the time of the foundation of the Royal Society, coffee houses were celebrated public forums for discussion and debate: attendees drank the newly available coffee and discussed economics, politics, science, mathematics and the matters of the day. The founding members of the Royal Society were known to regularly meet in such cafés. In the spirit of the original, these Café Scientifique events will feature a diverse range of fascinating current topics and are open to all to attend and contribute to.

These events are free – no booking required. To join in, just turn up, get a drink, and get involved in the discussion.

Supported by the Kohn Foundation.
