As D-day is approaching the final members of our team will be introduced to you soon, next stop, Mandy!
Name: Dr Mandy S Plumb
Occupation: Researcher and Lecturer in School of Health Sciences, Robert Gordon University
I love Science because: I want to make a difference. I have an insatiable appetite for understanding how and why something works? My research is unique in that it enables me to observe the human body from disturbances in joint homeostasis at the cellular level, imaging at the muscular level and finally from a more systems based approach, observing the gross motor movements. This approach allows me to begin to piece together each individual aspect and observe them as a whole and try to unpick the complexities of the disease process. Each piece of research I carry out provides me with a new adventure and various challenges but underlying the whole process is my desire to add to the body of knowledge and hopefully make a difference.
When I’m not a Geek, I dream about one day becoming Professor Plumb (in the conservatory with the lead piping)!!! I enjoy outdoor adventures and spend my time tramping up Munros and exploring the countryside on my motorbike. Unfortunately, I even bring my science (geekiness) into the kitchen because I treat every recipe like a mini experiment.
Come and meet Mandy at the Southbank Centre from 22nd to 30th June.
